H.I.M.

Ikus Music Projects is lending its support to the Haile Selassie I the First High School Restoration
Project. Part proceeds from the First Annual Coronation Celebration hosted by Ikus Music Projects will
be contributed to the Jamaican school. Donations will also be collected from patrons of the Coronation
Celebration which is to be staged on Sunday, November 1, 2015, at The Bridge, 4220 NW 7th Avenue,

The Haile Selassie I High School is situated in the Payne Land – Tavaris Gardens – region of
South Western St. Andrew, Jamaica. The school was a royal gift to the people of Jamaica by the
legendary Ethiopian Monarch of the same name. His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie the
First donated the money and laid the foundation stone for the building of the educational institution
bearing his name during his three-day historical April 1966 State Visit to Jamaica.

The upcoming Coronation Celebration will commemorate the 85th anniversary of Haile
Selassie I the First coronation as Emperor of Ethiopia on November 2nd, 1930. The Ikus Music
Projects event includes live musical entertainment, poetry and spoken word, comedy, and an art
exhibition. Among those billed to perform are Malekuu and the Kantraban, Yung Lionz,
Dreadloc-O-Bedroc, Akete, Ras Ijer, Prince Guzigar, The Oski Foundation, Nubawn, NyahBingi
Drummers, surprised guest artists and others. All ages are welcome at the Coronation Celebration
which runs from noon until sundown. Admission is $5.00 and food and refreshments will be on sale.

Over the past fifty years since the Haile Selassie High School was established, it has been
seriously underfunded by successive Jamaican governments and the campus facilities have
deteriorated badly. The school’s location in a poorer area of St. Andrew, Jamaica has also hampered
the staff’s ability to provide all the required educational and social services for the students.

The Haile Selassie High School Restoration Project was established by Rootz Foundation Inc.
in order to help enhance the school’s infrastructure and to assist in the welfare of the students. Since
2007, the Florida based Rootz Foundation has been utilizing the radio and cultural events to raise
public awareness about the vital necessity for community support to assist in the redevelopment and
upkeep of the West Kingston institution. Through the Restoration Project, the Foundation has been
spearheading a fund-raising campaign to help improve physical conditions at the school and also to
help provide school supplies as well as other necessities for the needy student population who are
from a poor socio-economic and violence prone community.

In partnering with the Rootz Foundation-led Restoration Project, Ikus Music Projects implores
all conscious minded people to help preserve the very important and historical legacy that the Haile
Selassie I the First High School represents. Blessed love to all. ALUTA CONTINUA!!!!!!!
